Steve Massey Chiropractor

Stephen-Massey-Chiropractor

Steve has directed the Back Doctor clinic for nearly 2o years after he graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic with first class honours.  He is semi-retired and no longer works at St Asaph. He sees a small  number of patients from his home near Hawarden/Deeside.

He likes to wotk with older clients, as, not only is he getting older himself,   he has also gained experience  in the more complex conditions that come with age, the effects of old injuries on the development of arthritic conditions, and more gentle approaches suitable to older clients. His professional interests also include; posture, pregnancy and babies,  headaches, cranio-sacral therapy (a very gentle modality that can help to release deep tensions from tissues,) and the use of mind/body therapies to reduce pain and stress .

“Chiropractic for pain relief can be the start of a journey into health and healing. To be honest, getting rid of pain is often quite easy. Relieving stress in the mind and body can be more challenging, and I like to help support people to make the changes they need in order to live life to the full"

Dr Massey, grew up in a medical family; his father and brother are both doctors who have reached pinnacles in their profession. He lived in a Buddhist monastery in Thailand before working as manager of a retreat centre in the UK. During this period in the 80s he met and was inspired by different healers and healing techniques.

“Sometimes it seems as if there is no common ground between conventional medicine and complementary therapy, but I am comfortable in both worlds and am able to bring you the best of both, setting you on a unique path to healing and harmony.”

Matt has a degree in Sports Science and a Masters in Chiropractic. This combination helps to him explore pain conditions in great depth and to offer up to date rehabilitation programmes to help  people overcome back, neck and extremity problems so they can move comfortably and live without fear.

He combines  precise adjustments with rehabilitation built on DNS principles. DNS is a framework based on how babies naturally learn to move; we copy those patterns to rebuild breathing, bracing and control, which makes lifting and everyday movement feel easier and safer.

He is also trained to  suggest specific diet changes and targeted clinical grade supplements to reduce inflammation and support energy, sleep and mood, especially in longer‑standing pain.

He is known for listening first, setting clear goals, and designing plans you can follow between visits.

Outside clinic he is either in the gym or tending to his many houseplants.

Dr Anthony Saunders Chiropractor

Anthony Saunders Transparent

“Gaining a Master’s degree in Chiropractic in 2017 from McTimoney Chiropractic College, Dr Saunders has a strong commitment to providing high quality care for patients of all ages and abilities. He combines the gentle McTimoney treatment with the more standard “Diversified” chiropractic style which gives his approach breadth and effectiveness which is reflected in his high level of success in treating clients with all manner of complaints. He has experience in a wide range of healthcare settings, including shared practices, private practices, and rehabilitation centres

Dr Saunders experience in working with musculoskeletal pain led him, naturally, to explore the more integrated approach of the Biopsychosocial Model. Back pain, like most medical conditions, has multiple causes and the best way to treat it is by addressing all the causes such as diet, exercise, other health conditions, stress, and work and leisure activities.

“In my opinion, there are many degrees of wellness, just as there are many degrees of illness. The wellness paradigm directs one beyond the mere physical symptoms of illness.”

Dr Saunders is interested in how psychological and sociological factors influence the development, course and outcome of ill health. He is passionate about learning and he will go the extra mile to explore the latest research around his patients health issues in order to create a high quality and personalised treatment plan, and to achieve the best evidence-based outcome.”
